In a first part, a description of three valuation studies concerning forest recreation is given. UFLACKER (1995) and SCHUESSELE (1995) estimated the value of forest recreation in a part of the Kaufunger Wald using both zonal Travel Cost Method (TMC) and open-ended Contingent Valuation Method (CVM). SCHWALTO (1994) applied the Contingent Valuation Method in a study on the Stadtwald Muelheim.
