Problemi di quarantena vegetale relativi ad insetti vettori di virus e di altri agenti fitopatogeni [in Italia].

English. The Italian directive on phytosanitary rules concerning the import, export and transit of plants and plant products (M.D. of July 11, 1980) lists about 40 insect species as an object of plant quarantine in Italy. Seven such species are vectors of phytopathogenic agents which are particularly dangerous to Italian agriculture. The biological characteristics of these insects, most important for quarantine purposes, are briefly reported. Other insect species not mentioned in the directive but potentially important, from the economic point of view, as vectors of viruses and other plant pathogenic agents which might be accidentally introduced in Italy are also reported. With regard to these vectors and the pathogens they transmit, it is observed that different epidemiological situations can exist in the country, depending on whether (1) the vector, (2) both the vector and the pathogen, and (3) the pathogen are not present. These possible situations are discussed and some examples are given to the end of organizing properly the plant protection and quarantine service in Italy.

ITALIANO: Nel Decreto Ministeriale 11 luglio 1980 sono citate come oggetto di quarantena vegetale circa quaranta specie di insetti, sette delle quali sono ricordate in qualita di vettori di agenti fitopatogeni particolarmente temibili per l'Italia. Le caratteristiche biologiche di queste specie, le piu utili ai fini della protezione vegetale, vengono brevemente illustrate. Si ricordano, inoltre, diverse altre specie di insetti non citate nella direttiva e pericolose come vettori di virus ed altri agenti fitopatogeni che potrebbero essere introdotte accidentalmente in Italia. A questo proposito si osserva che nel Paese possono riscontrarsi diverse situazioni epidemiologiche, a seconda che non siano presenti: (1) il solo vettore; (2) vettore e patogeno trasmesso; (3) il solo patogeno. Tali possibilita sono discusse ed esemplificate ai fini della difesa dal'introduzione di nuovi parassiti in Italia.
