Dry ice can rapidly decrease the blood temperature. Above all, the starting initial blood contamination is significantly reduced which is not the case with the standard processing. According to the results obtained, blood cooling with dry ice would be suitable in cases the whole blood is used for colouring the meat products or producing the blood type sausages, etc. This procedure is also suitable for whole blood drying and processing for pulverized blood used in human alimentation. However, in cases blood is collected for the production of blood plasma and hemoglobin, rapid dry ice cooling is not a suitable method, at least according to preliminary investigations due to the occurrence of hemolysis which has a negative effect on the blood plasma colour. Dry ice, in this case could be applied after blood separation for cooling plasma and hemoglobin.
