Self mustering of sheep saves valuable time and labour and reduces mustering costs and the need for skilled labour. At the same time, it increases mustering efficiency and as a result can ensure the best possible management of sheep. Self mustering requires control of all stock waters, two way spear trap gates and well planned facilities. Plans for four trap gate designs (Bettini, Charleville, Spring Hill and Cattle-Sheep) that work are available. With all of these, training of the sheep is required.
