Descriptions are made of twenty-one species of larval and juvenile fishes collected in the northern Pacific Ocean by larval net survey from 1986; Engraulis japonicus, Bathylagus ochotensis, Tactostoma macropus, Lestidiops ringens, Lestidiops pacificum, Lampanychus regalis, Ceratoscopelus townsendi, Tarletonbeania taylori, Myctophum nitidulum, Symbolophorus californiensis, Diaphus gigas, Ceratoscopelus warmingii, Cololabis saira, Hirundichthys (Hirundichthys) speculiger, Hirundichthys (Hirundichthys) oxycephalus, Hirundichthys (Danichthys) rondeletii, Cypselurus (Procypselurus) katoptron, Excoetus monocirrhus, Chaenophryne sp., Gigantactis sp. and Desmodema lorum. Among them, prejuvenile specimens of Lestidiops pacificum (33.0mm SL) and Desmodema lorum (24.8mm SL) are described for the first time.
