Studies were carried out under laboratory and greenhouse conditions at the Department of Entomology of the Bogor Research Institute for Food Crops. The parasites studied were Platygaster oryzae Cameron (Hym. : Platygasteridae), gregarious endo-egg/larval parasites; Neanastatus oryzae Ferriere (Hym.: Eupelmidae), solitary ecto-pupal ecto-larval parasites. The objective was to determine the most potential parasite affecting the population density of the gallmidge. The results showed that the increase of reproduction rate of the parasites was significantly dependent on the rate of population increase of the host. The increase of Platygaster reproduction rate was regarded to have a stabilization effect on rice gallmidge population if the population density of the host offered ranged between 20 and 80 eggs per day per female parasite. At this density parasitism achieved 70-90 percent. For Neanastatus and Propycroscytus it was between 10 and 20 host offered per day female parasites and caused 47 to 54 percent parasitism. The mutual interference observed in the laboratory condition for Platygaster was considered due only to high density of the parasite and should not be a case in the yield condition.
