A field experiment was carried out to evaluate yield losses in terms of marketable fruits, resulting from damage by leaf feeding insects on eggplant. Design used was a paired treatment, in which plants in one of each pair of plots were protected from leaf eating insects by foliar sprays of an effective insecticide, whereas the other halves were unsprayed in order to allow pest populations to develop and undisturbed. In sprayed and unsprayed plots, comparative determinations were carried out on insect population trends and yields. The major insect pest was Epilachna sp. with peak populations at 77 and 97 days after planting for prevarieties Gelatik and Bogor respectively. The eggplant yield losses determined were 39,4 percent for Gelatik and 34,0 percent for Bogor variety.
