The potential of tatascan and frijolillo in agroforestry systems | El potencial del tatascán y el frijol en sistemas agroforestales

El presente artículo trata de resultados de pruebas y ensayos con el Frijolillo (Perymenium grande) y el Tatascán (Senna guatemalensis) en sistemas agroforestales mejorados, así como el efecto de sus hojas como abono verde en algunos cultivos. Ambas plantas son difundidas y usadas en la zona alta del departamento de La Paz, Honduras, y están presentes en casi todos los países de América Central. De acuerdo con los resultados, las especies se adaptan bien en condiciones de clima y suelo, donde otras especies no han tenido buen desarrollo.

This article shows the results of tests with frijolillo (Perymenium grande) and tatascan (Senna guatemalensis) in improved agroforestry systems, as well as the effect of their leaves as Green fertilizer in some crops. Both plants are known and used in the high zones of the Department of La Paz, Honduras, and can be found in almost all countries of Central America. According to the results, both species are well adapted to soil and climate conditions shere other plants have not performed welll.
