There are a variety of biological controllers for H. hampei Ferr. that are not being studied and that may be important in the production of organic coffee; We do not have research in the world on this new entomophagous fly that is responsible for regulating the populations of the CBB in a natural way, for this reason it was proposed to investigate biological aspects, percentage of natural control and identification of this insect in a plot of Arabica coffee variety Castilla, under the shade of pacae with high infestation of the pest. 10 samples of 50 mature coffee beans were collected, which were transferred to the laboratory and conditioned in recovery glass bottles; while other grains were dissected to observe immature stages. It is concluded that the fly is a Diptera - Sciaridae and shows a very elongated abdomen unlike all the genera of this family that have a short abdomen; the white vermiform larvae of a length between 2 to 5 mm and lives within the brocade grain, feeding on the eggs, larvae and pupae of the pest, finding only one larva per grain. The adult is black and measures 5.7 mm in length, is elongated and black in color; the wings are superimposed at rest on the body; the abdomen is thin, very long and curved 4 mm bent upwards, the male being smaller than the female. The percentage of natural control was 20.80 ± 5.59 in the months of highest production.

Hay una diversidad de controladores biológicos de H. hampei Ferr. que no están siendo estudiados y que pueden ser importantes en la producción del café orgánico; no tenemos investigaciones en el mundo sobre esta nueva mosca entomófaga que se encarga de regular las poblaciones de la broca en forma natural, por ello se propuso investigar aspectos biológicos, porcentaje de control natural e identificación de este insecto en una parcela de café arábigo variedad Castilla, bajo sombra de pacae con alta infestación de la plaga. Se colectaron 10 muestras de 50 granos maduros de café, las que fueron trasladadas al laboratorio y acondicionados en frascos de vidrio de recuperación; mientras que otros granos fueron diseccionados para observar estadios inmaduros. Se concluye que la mosca es un Díptero – Sciaridae y muestra un abdomen muy alargado a diferencia de todos los géneros de esta familia que presentan abdomen corto; la larva de tipo vermiforme y de color blanco de una longitud entre 2 a 5 mm y vive dentro del grano brocado alimentándose de huevos, larvas y pupas de la plaga, encontrándose una sola larva por grano. El adulto es de color negro y mide 5,7 mm de longitud, es alargado y de color negro; las alas se superponen en reposo sobre el cuerpo; el abdomen es delgado, bien largo y curvado de 4 mm doblado hacia arriba, siendo el macho más pequeño que la hembra. El porcentaje de control natural fue de 20,80 ± 5,59 en los meses de mayor producción.
