[A study of phytoparasitic nematodes in certain field-farming crops and vineyards [soybeans, cereals, sugar beet, sunflower, grapevines]]

This paper presents the results of investigation of the presence of phytoparasitic nematodes in the agricultural land in Slavonia and Baranja, SR Croatia (SFRY). The investigation was performed in 1983. Out of the found number of nematodes in field-farming crops, the largest number of genera and individuals was found in soybean. Particularly dangerous of the 9 found genera are: Ditylenchus, Pratylenchus and Helicotylenchus. Some species of the Pratylenchus genus may enter, doing harm and causing root spot. 10 species were found in cereals. The most harmful ones were the species of Tylenchorhynchus genus, followed by Pratylenchus and Pratylenchus. In sugar beet, presence of a large number of genera that may do it notable harm, especially the Xiphinema genus, was noticed. The most genera, as well as individuals, in single samples were found in grapes (especially the Xiphinema genus). In the investigated samples of sunflower, only one nematode genus was found. Out of the saprophagous nematodes, only the Dorylaimus genus was determined, while the others were classified into the group of undetermined saprophages. In some plots, presence of predators of the Monochus genus was found, and they were particularly numerous under grapes. By examination of the plant material, i.e. of the roots and other parts of plants, nematodes were not found, which points to the presence of root ectoparasites only.
