[Some stubble-sowing results in Slavonija and Baranja in 1983 [Yugoslavia, maize, soybean, sunflower]]

This paper presents part of the results of 1-year investigation of the possibilities of stubble sowing in Slavonija and Baranja (SFRY). The following crops were chosen for stubble sowing: maize (hybrids OSSK 247, OSSK 251 and Bc 183), sunflower (OS 5, NSH 26, NSH 33) and soybean (OS 232, OS 289, OS 657). All crops were planted in 2 different seeding rates (maize 81,000 and 95,000 plants/ha, sunflower 60,000 and 76,500 plants/ha and soybean 675,000 and 865,000 plants/ha) with irrigation (artificial rain) and in dry farming. All stubble crops yielded a technologically mature grain (except maize in l location). Soybean had a good yield of grain. Maize turned to be an unreliable crop in stubble sowing, concerning the grain, but very suitable for the biomass production for animal feed. Under the irrigation conditions all crops gave higher yields of grain and biomass. Stubble-sowed sunflower had a good yield of grain and biomass in both variants and minor differences between the achieved yields show that this crop can be grown under the dry farming conditions too. The differences in the yield of grain and dry matter in the biomass among the hybrids and varieties were not significant. Seeding rate influenced the yield considerably, i.e. the shown difference was not significant. The biomass quality was not lower under the irrigation conditions. The total quantity of dry matter in the biomass of plants grown under the irrigation conditions was higher. The protein share in the biomass dry matter (%) was higher under the dry farming conditions, while the total protein quantity per unit of area was higher under the irrigation conditions.
