This paper investigates the influence of bulls on the pregnancy duration of inseminated cows, as well as heritability of this reproductive property. The analysis of the pregnancy duration was carried out upon 326 examples. Similar duration of the 1st and 3rd pregnancy is noted, i.e. 3rd was only 0.06 days shorter, while 2nd was a little longer. Compared with 1st pregnancy, the difference was 0.45 days, and with 3rd one - 0.51 day. The differences were not significant. Statistic significance of the differences in the pregnancy duration among groups of cows by bulls shows that the influence of bulls is very significant (P less than 0.01) for the pregnancy duration of inseminated cows, in the sense of its shortening. The highest heritability of the pregnancy duration was found in 1st pregnancy (h =0.3777). The heritability value for the 3rd pregnancy is negative (h =-0.0106). The standard error of the heritability coefficient points to the relative reliability of the estimated heritability of the 1st pregnancy duration, while for 2nd one it is close to heritability (0.2598+-0.2030) and for the 3rd one pregnancy is longer than the found heritability coefficient. This confirms that reproductive properties have low heritability, i.e. that the share of the additive effect of a group of genes on its appearance is small.
