[Milk yield and quality of milk of Jezeropivska sheep [Yugoslavia]]
1985
Adzic, N.S.
Jezerskopivska breed of sheep belongs to the group of autochtonous population of the Yugoslav Pramenka breed. It is cultivated in markedly mountainous region of the North-Western part of Montenegro (Yugoslavia). The region where it lives is the area around the mountain Durmitor. The lactation period is 213,81 days. The age has influence on lactation. Sheep which produced more milk had longer lactational period in average. During the lactational period, experimental sheep gave 103.254 l of milk in average. During the first 2 months of lactation almost the half (44,99%), and during the first 3 months 3/4 (66,80%) of all year milk yield was got. During the first 3 months, the lactation was rather the same. Milk yield rises from the first to the third age group, and later gradually falls. The quality of milk increases with the lasting of lactation. This is the result of the increase of almost all of its ingredients: dry matter, dry matter without fat, proteins, casein, and even minerals, although minerals had slight digression during the first part of the lactation (second milking). The fat is the most unstable substance in milk during lactation.
