For the investigation of the first autumn frosts,i.e. of the beginning of the frosty season in SFRY, were used informations taken from 172 meteorologic stations over a period of 1949 - 1964. 70 % of the stations gave the informations from 15-16 year observations and other from 11-14 year observations. It was concluded that the first autumn frosts, in the greatest continental part of the country, appeared approximately in the 3rd decade of October, 15 - 30 days before the end of vegetation season,i.e. the period of time with average daily temperature of 5 C or higher. The frosty period at the coast begins considerably later in December, and at the south part of the Adriatic coast not until January, and sometimes the minimal daily temperature is not below 0 C. Exceptionally, the first frosts could appear somewhat earlier. The paper brings the detailed analysis of summary probability of frost appearance. There are gotten 3 types of summary probability systems of correlation curves, i.e. 3 homogenous regions are separated.
