The experiment was conducted on complete dual crossings of different merchant types of tobaccos (Maryland 201, VH Mresko, DV3 and Emona). It was concluded that Maryland 201 has the desirable height, internode length and the number of leaves. The height and the number of leaves are determined by dominated factors and can be used in F1 combinations. The length of internode is determined by recessive factors and can be used only in homozygote stage. The extreme height of VH type is determined by recessive factors and 2 other desirable characteristics (short internode and numerous leaves are recessive). None of the investigated characteristics of the Mresko variety are not interesting neither for grafting nor for cultivation, but are dominant and can not be avoid in F1. The DV3 variety has long internodes, small number of leaves and medium height. These characteristics are determined by dominant factors and high level of homozygoteness. Emona satisfies all 3 investigated characteristics and for the height and number of leaves has the satisfactory level of homozygoteness.
