[Yugoslav agrarian theory and policy]
1985
Tomic, D.
In the first phase of the socio-economical development of SFR Yugoslavia (period from 1946-1956) the agriculture had a task to contribute to processes of industrialization and electrification by its accumulation. That was the reason why its material basis was very limited. The greatest attention was dedicated to development of the social and cooperative sectors as the main factors of modernization and production. In the second period analyzed, that from 1957-1965, there was a radical change in the development of agriculture and social relationships in villages, and the achievements of production itself were simultaneous with the important social processes in the villages which were manifested in the changes of character of the farms, farmers as producers and their status. In the period from 1966-1973, the conditions for the development of agriculture were defined by the principles of the economic reform. After the first achievements, there was a period of stagnation because of the aggravation of the economic conditions. The fourth period of development of the Yugoslav agriculture (1974 up till now) coincides with the very important events in the socio-economic development of the country. The directions of the new economic policy have been defined, the policy that is based on the constitutional amendments and conclusions of the 10th Congress of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, the Constitution of 1974, the Law of Self-management (1976) and Farmers Cooperation Law. The greater participation of the farmers in the social and self-management processes is encouraged.
