Influence of irrigation and increasing rates of fertilization on some traits of flue-cured tobacco
1985
Cavlek, M. | Kozumplik, V. (Duhanski institut, Zagreb (Yugoslavia))
The effect of irrigation and fertilization with increased NPK fertilizer doses on biological and agronomic properties of "Podravina" variety of Virginian tobacco was explored over 2 years (1979 and 1980). Better quality of dried tobacco, as a result of irrigation, was noticed only in droughty 1979. At the same time, the number of leaves per plant decreased with irrigation. The irrigated tobacco of 1979 had a lower K2O content in leaves. With increasing the fertilization quantity from O to 1,600 kg/ha the yield increased, but tobacco leaf quality fell in 1979. There was more precipitation in 1980 and the investigated treatments did not exert significant effect.
