Evaluating genetic parameters of growth traits of boars in a performance test

The paper deals with the assessments and discussion thereof concerning coefficients of inheritance and correlation of fattening properties (daily weight gain, fodder consumption per 1 kg of weight gain, average back bacon thickness, fat/meat percentage ratios of the sides) for pigs, as well as the rate of genetic variance of given performance properties of examined boars with the body mass ranging from 30-100 kg, with the objective of studying the mechanism of inheriting such properties and determining and application of the most efficient selection method as concerns genetic enhancement, i.e. creation of genotypes of high meat yield per sow.
