Analysis of 18 reservoirs in the basin of the river Morava has proved that the effects of reservoirs upon the reduction of damages from floods are mostly small and very expensive. This concerns both the effects of single reservoirs and the effects of several reservoirs together. Only the Borje reservoir on the Veternica river proved to be profitable and economical. Therefore, it was suggested that there should be provided a space in the reservoir which would have the size of 11.6 x 10 m. This space could eliminate 90% of damages downstream of the reservoir. Other damages should be prevented by other technical measures.
