Frequency and virulence of physiologic races of Erysiphe graminis f. sp. tritici in Southeastern Yugoslavia in 1978-1982

In the 1978-1982 period wheat specimens with Erysiphe graminis f. sp. tritici cleistothecia were regularly collected from several localities in Yugoslavia. It was concluded that the population of E. graminis f. sp. tritici was rather heterogenous - 44 races were isolated most of which had been identified in Yugoslavia earlier. Only 2 races appeared continuously while the other races only in some of the years. On the basis of the pathogenic factors, all the isolated races were classified into 6 groups.
