The investigation dealt with daily weight gain, slaughtering characteristics and the quality of slaughtering meat sides in crosses of the brown and Simmental breeds with the Aberdeen angus cattle. Weight gains were poor with grazing and calves also sucked. Weight gains with bulls in winter period were satisfactory while with heifers thay were poor. Bulls had by 7% more meat in sides and heifers by 6.4% more tallow, although they had lower weight. High tallow percent with heifers points to low meat production capacity of female crosses with the Aberdeen angus breed which is not high with bulls, as well. With bulls there was established higher surface of dorsal muscle by 10.2 cm than with heifers. Bulls had greater number of muscle fibres on 1 m and on the section of long dorsal muscle.
