A contribution to knowledge of the spread of leptospirosis in pigs in some regions of Serbia [Yugoslavia] in relation to some ecological factors
1984
Trifunovic, Z. (Veterinary Institute. Beograd (Yugoslavia))
In the regions of Pomoravlje and Mlava (Yugoslavia), antibodies against leptospirosis in pigs were detected in 43.35%. In the extensive breeding conditions this phenomenon was more prominent. From the total number of pigs which reacted to leptospirosis, Leptospirosis interrogans serotype pomona dominated while serotype tarassovi was present less frequently and other serotypes were detected in an insignificant number. Conditions which accompany leptospirosis in pigs were established. A large number of breeding stock reacted positively to leptospirosis. It was established that grey rats (Rattus norvegicus) were constant sources of infection while the role of wild hares (Lepus europaeus) and some other animal species was insignificant.
