The preciseness of clinical determination of oestrus was controlled by use of serum progesteron radioimmunoassay at insemination in 40 high producing dairy cows. Clinical determination of oestrus was confirmed in 95,0% of cases. After 3 inseminations 37 (92,5%) of cows stayed pregnant, 21(52,5%) after first, 8 (20,0%) after second and 8 (20,0%) after third insemination. In comparison with healthy animals longer calving interval and greater number of inseminations was observed in animals with parthal health disorders (P0,05). Three to five weeks after parturition in the blood of sick cows significant higher levels of bilirubin (P0.01) and ketones (P0,05) as well as lower amount of glucose (P0,05) were stated. Disorders of energy metabolism in high pregnancy and puerperium are considered to provoke functional changes and damages of liver and represent an important factor for weak fertility.
