Influence of nitrogen fertilizers on sugar beet yield
1987
Glamocija, Dj. (Poljoprivredni fakultet, Beograd (Yugoslavia))
Sugar beet reacted strongly to nitrogen fertilizer which resulted in an increase in the root yield, while the yield depended on the amount of nitrogen. The highest yield was achieved with a dose of 180 kg N/ha. Further nitrogen dose increases caused a decrease in the root yield. Nitrogen fertilizer also caused an increase in the mass of the head and leaves, and an increase in the mass of the above-ground part of sugar beet in the total plant mass. The effect of nitrogen fertilizer on the sugar content in roots was neither very apparent nor precise, although it is evident that digestion decreases with an increase in the nitrogen dose.
