Parasites which are transferred by barley seeds can, by their destructive effect, significantly reduce the yield. It primarily refers to parasites from the genera Ustilago, Drechslera and Fusarium. In order to control the development of parasites the following should be undertaken: select the resistant varieties, respect the crop rotation in the system of crop cultivation, fertilize the crop properly, study the susceptibility of barley varieties to parasites systematically, control the health condition of seeds and apply the suitable measures (in relation to the results obtained) as well as choose adequate fungicides in relation to the parasites in seeds. There are some fungicides which can solve almost all the problems caused by parasites transferred by seeds.
