The trial was carried out on rats assigned to two experimental groups, kept on different feeding regimes. Control group received whole proteins, and the deficient one received low-level proteins (gelatine). The rats were administered U14C-glycine peritoneally. Distribution of radioactivity from U14C-glycine into some components of liver, skeletal muscles, blood plasma and brain was observed to obtain insight into the specific character of glycine metabolism. The highest degree of marking (dpm/1 g of tissue) occurred in the liver of the deficient rats group, and the lowest in their brain. The highest radioactively in the liver and blood plasma is incorporated into proteins, and in skeletal muscles into free aminoacids pool. Distribution of 14C in the components of brain depended on the nutrient status of the experimental animals.
