Contribution to knowledge about characteristics of thoroughbred horse

Horse breeding for sport in the sixties and in the past few years has been almost forgotten but now undergoes its revival in the social and private production. The task of the authors was to examine the body measurements of English thoroughbred horse on the studied farms in Vojvodina (Yugoslavia). Besides exterior measurements and body weight, indicators of the results achieved in races on fields in Yugoslavia and abroad were presented. The evaluations provided parameters of the usability of the head, which were, among other things, of great importance for breeding and selection work in improving total values of English thoroughbred. The results obtained are analysed by the statistical and variance method and with indicators of variability of some characteristics.
