The present work concentrates on the results of studying the dynamics of sandflies and sandfly and tick population in Southeast and East Serbia, respectively. These regions represent endemic foci of visceral leishmaniasis. The investigations were carried out in the period 1983-1987. Particular attention was paid to the sandfly species Phlebotomus perfiliewi and ticks Dermacentor marginatus and Rhipicephalus bursa, being the most abundant arthropods examined within the mentioned regions. The tick species Ixodes ricinus also play a significant role.
