Great importance is placed on the diagnostic of salmonella because of its threat to the health of people and animals, and for preventive measures and therapy. Various agars are used in certain bacteriological laboratories for isolating salmonella. There are many types of agar, and various reports about their suitability. This paper describes parallel investigations of the usefulness of Endo agar (E-agar), brilliant green agar (BG-agar), and Salmonella-Shigella agar (SS-agar) in bacteriological investigations of organs of dead animals and fish meal. The conclusion points out that about the same results are obtained through BG-agar (41.48%) and SS-agar (41.04%). Fewer salmonella were isolated with E-agar (17.46%). Fourteen serotypes of salmonella were isolated from the organs of dead animals and fish meal.
