Examinations were performed over a period of three years, using modern biological and apitechnological measures. Chemicals based on amitrases in the form of smoking were used. When used over a long-term period, the method of fighting varroa includes the following measures: The treatment of bee societies in late winter and in the first weeks of spring twice or four times. The effect of this treatment is weaker the later it is begun, and the increased number of treatments results in the destruction of more varroa. Control of the closed drone nest from the first days of May or the first days of June, depending on climatic conditions. Controls should continue until the final extraction of honey. The percentage of infected drone at the time serves as a basis for planning the beginning and extent of curative treatment of bee societies during winter preparations. The performance of 6-10 therapeutic treatments of bee societies from early or mid August until late October in order to destroy as many old varroa females as possible. The use of this method over a period of three years decreases the number of destroyed varroa per hive during autumn treatments from 1175 to 638, and the number of hives with over 1000 destroyed varroa decreased from 50% to 29%.
