For the control of grass weeds after their emergence in the transplanted tobacco, in the course of 1987, 1988 and 1989, the herbicide efficacy was investigated of the following products: Fusilade super 3,0 l/ha (125 g/l active ingredient fluazitop -p-butil and 250 g/l for the solvent). Grasipan 3,0 kg/ha (a.i. 75% aloxidium natrium), Scepter 3.0 l/ha (a.i. 150 g/l imazakvin) and Tillam 6,0 l/ha (a.i. 77.32 pebulat). The treatment of the weeds with herbicides was carried out two weeks after tobacco transplantation, except for the Tillam, when the soil treatment was carried out two days before transplantation of the Prilep tobacco variety. The products used have shown a positive results, each in its own field of action. In 1987 the best effect was achieved with the application of Scepter and Tillam, where the number of weeds was lowered to 56 and 65 respectively, as compared to the control (258). In 1988 and 1989 the products have significantly affected the number of weeds. During the three years of investigations, the herbicides, have shown a positive effect upon the yield and quality of the investigated tobacco varieties.
