Possibilities of improving productive traits of domestic (Yugoslav) coarse wool sheep by its crossing with Merinolandschaf breed

The paper deals with the creation of a new type of sheep, which, according to productive traits, will be better than Yugoslav coarse wool sheep, but which will retain its vitality and adjustability to mountainous conditions of rearing. Investigation results proved that crosses were better than Pivska pramenka in almost all the investigated productive traits. This refers both to body measures and body mass and on the fertility, wool production and quality. Only milk production, but not milk quality were somewhat lower in crosses than in Pivska pramenka sheep.
