Kosovac, O. ("Panonija", Secanj (Yugoslavia). Farm of pigs) | Petrovic, M. (Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade (Yugoslavia))
The genetic variability of some reproductive characteristics of purebred sows and F1 generation in the first two farrowings was investigated. The amount of additive genetic variance for the age at first and second conception, the duration of gestation, interval between farrowings, weaning-oestrus, weaning-conception and weaning-culling period was small (from 6.0 to 23.0), but varied and depended on the genotypes of pigs. Heritability of the live born, the number of weaning piglets and the litter weight at 28 d (average values for both farrowings) were 0.14, 0.12 and 0.16 for the purebred sows and 0.08, 0.08 and 0.10 for the F1 generation, respectively.
