Videnovic, Z. | Dumanovic, Z. (Maize Research Institute, Belgrade - Zemun (Yugoslavia))
The experiment was performed in 5 consecutive years (1987-1991), on chernozem type of soil in Zemun Polje - Belgrade, Yugoslavia. The primary tillage was conventional. The soil compaction was performed with John Deere-4440 tractor (total weight 6.8 tons) during the first three years and with IMT-558 (total weight 2.9 tons) during the last two years. According to the obtained results, maize (Zea mays L.) yield decrease due to the soil compaction was statistically significant. The five years average yield decrease amounted to 0.45 t/ha (5.5).
