Effect of drought at various development stages on soybean yield and the effect of irrigation
1994
Dragovic, S. (Institut za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo, Novi Sad (Yugoslavia))
Effect of water deficit at various generative stages (R1-R8) on soybean yield and quality was tested in a field experiment. The aim of the experiment was to establish critical periods when water is necessary for high yields of soybean grown in conditions of suboptimum soil moisture and irrigation. Water deficit implied the maintenance of soil moisture at 15 bars in the soil layer 0-60 cm. Depending on the time and duration of water deficit, soybean yields were reduced by 2-92 in relation to the variant of optimum soil moisture. The yield reductions were higher in conditions of protracted drought, which included several development stages, and when drought occurred at the late stages, starting from pod filling.
