A trial was established with the potato variety Desiree on a calcareous chernozem soil type. Irrigation and fertilization significantly increased the yield of new potato. The yield of potato on check, non-fertilizer plot was 10.61 t/ha. The application of 40 t/ha of manure and N80P80K80 increased the yield of new potato for 70 (18.00 t/ha). High positive correlation existed between the applied amounts of nitrogen and yield on non-irrigated check plot, while the effect of nitrogen was even higher on irrigated plot. Unlike with nitrogen, potassium increased the yield of new potato directly, increasing utilization of nitrogen from organic and mineral fertilizers, especially under conditions of irrigation.
