Dynamics of mineral nutrients in the bearing wood of differing age in some apple cultivars: 1. Dynamics of macronutrients

The dynamics of macronutrients (N, P, K, Ca and Mg) in the bearing wood of some apple cultivars (Golden Delicious, Richared, Stark Earliest and Melrose) was recorded. The levels of the nutrient studied varied significantly over the year. The greatest variation in all the nutrients occurred during the growing season, but at different periods. The concentrations rose again during winter dormancy. 1-year-old bearing wood had the highest amounts of macronutrients, whereas with increasing age these levels decreased. There were also found very significant differences in macronutrient in the bearing wood of differing age between cultivars, as between study years.
