Investigations were conducted on the smonitza (vertisol) soil type with stationary three-field crop rotation (soybean - wheat - maize) over 1991-1993. Considerable changes were obtained in soil acidity reduction and content of humus and total nitrogen, as well as available potassium, phosphorus, and calcium. Application of calcium fertilizer (Njival Ca) altered general properties of acidic soil, as well as its productive ability.
