The investigation performed in agroecological conditions of east Srem (Serbia, Yugoslavia) on carbonate blackearth soil (semigley) type. Results have shown that nitrogen used in small amounts increase forage yield and hay yield in first swath only. On the other hand, time of cutting did not have a big influence on forage yield. Having that in mind, yields on an average were close to equal in the conditions of cutting at the start of blooming as well as cutting in the phase of full lucerne blooming. However, with later cutting hay yield was significantly bigger. Rainfalls during the vegetation period of lucerne shown significant influence on the effects of treatments.
