The effect of folic acid in combination with the flushing system of feeding on fertility in sows was studied. The use of folic acid in the experiment with sows induced the increase of the number of total and live born piglets per litter by 0.59 and 0.61 piglets or 4.67 and 5.58 in the first farrowing, and 0.68 and 1.13 piglets or 5.67 and 10.57 in the second farrowing. The number of weaned piglets as the result of supplemented folic acid increased for 0.75 piglets or 8.04 in the first farrowing and 0.87 piglets or 9.12 in the second farrowing. Folic acid supplementation during two consecutive farrowings significantly increased (P0.05) the litter mass at birth. The high level of feeding before mating had no positive effect on the weight of litter and the weight of piglets at birth and weaning. Regarding the number of total and live born piglets, as well as the number of weaned piglets (in both farrowings) flushing system of feeding had no influence.
