In the period 1986-1995, it was investigated the influence of the rootstocks Kober 5 BB and 41 B on the yield and quality of grape of the variety Merlot as well as the influence of rootstocks Kober 5 BB and SO4 on the yield and quality of grape of the variety Cabernet Franc. The influence of the meteorological conditions in some years was more significant on the yield and on the quality of grape than the influence of the applied rootstocks. The investigated rootstocks Kober 5 BB, 41 B and SO4 exhibited the positive properties on verty soil in vineyard district of Orahovatz. The average grape yield in the Merlot variety was 12,430 kg/ha and in the Cabernet Franc variety was 9,639 kg/ha. Content of sugar in must was about 23 and content of total acids 7.2-7.8 g/l. Taking into account this results, one can recommend further expansion of this varieties in Kosovo and Metohija (Yugoslavia) because of their grape the best quality red wines could be produced.
