Yield components and quality analysis of alfalfa and red clover in the north Metohia region [Yugoslavia]
1997
Bekovic, D. (Poljoprivredni fakultet, Pristina (Yugoslavia))
For the investigation were used the three alfalfa cultivars (NS-Slavija, NS-Novosadjanka H-11, and Europa), and three cultivars of red clover (K-9, K-17, and K-27). The alfalfa cultivars gave significantly higher yield of green forage (73.3 t/ha), and hay (17.4 t/ha), comparing with the red clover cultivars (48.0 and 10.3 t/ha respectively). We can point out, among the alfalfa cultivars, to NS-Slavija, which was the best one for the most of the investigated traits as were green forage and hay yield, plant height, LAI, leaf content in the total dry matter yield, as well as crude proteins, crude fat matters, and crude ash content. Among the red clover cultivars, regarding yield components, the tetraploide cultivar K-27 can be pointed out because of its green forage and hay yield, plant height, LAI, and leaf content, but regarding quality traits of dry matter the best cultivar was K-9 because of its crude proteins content, crude cellulose content, crude fat matters content, and crude ash content, with the highest content of NFE.
