The susceptibility of ten apple varieties to the attack of European red mite has been studied. The presence of mites was established on all ten varieties. Tolerant number of mites per leaf was found, except for Richared variety by the second and third sampling. The results obtained, show that the same number of individuals per leaf doesn't mean the same attack intensity, because of the differences in the leaf's area. Significant differences, in the number of individuals, between the investigated varieties has been found. The most susceptible to the mites attack is Richared. On the second place is Grenny Smith x Golden Delicious. Susceptibility of other examined varieties varied depending upon the data of sampling. It has been established as well that the European red mite prefers varieties with thinner palisade parenchyma and those with higher content of nitrogen in the leaf.
