By using most important tomato yield components, we have characterised 43 selected genotypes from the collection. They are kept in plant gene bank of the Centre for Vegetable Crops in Smederevska Palanka, Serbia (Yugoslavia). On the basis of the values of these parameters, we have constructed a dendogram by using the hierarchical cluster analysis. The genotypes have been classified in four cluster groups. The genotypes included in the same cluster have similar variation intervals for the investigated quantitative characteristics and a low level genetic divergence, whereas the genotypes from different clusters are characterized by greater genetic divergence. As for the future crossings, the parents from different clusters should be used. In this way, the greater hybrid vigour in F1 generation could be expected. Thereby, the number of crossing combinations is decreased in initial phases of selection programmes, which enables an easier selection of the most suitable parental pairs for the future hybridization.
