This paper deals with the application of irrigation scheduling in sugar beet according to the subperiods of the growing season, soil moisture and water balance. In our conditions, sugar beet must be irrigated in the second growing season subperiod, from the beginning of July until the end of August. The number of irrigations primarily depends on the weather conditions and the amount and distribution of precipitation, as well as on the irrigation equipment and the technical possibilities it offers. The best way to schedule irrigation is according to soil moisture, at the technical minimum, at lentocapillary moisture water constant. The most acceptable way for irrigation scheduling is water balance, which is used to make a daily balance of the readily available water content in the soil in terms of inflow and consumption for the purpose of determining the dates and distribution of irrigation.
