Field research was conducted to monitor the persistence of atrazine in the surface layer (0-4.5 cm) of a carbonate chernozem soil for a period of up to 155 days. An application rate of 0.8 kg/ha atrazine active ingredient (a.i.) was used in experiments on small plots (100 square m). Atrazine was either co-applied with alachlor (2.5 l a.i./ha; experiments 1 and 3) or with bentazone (0.8 l a.i./ha; experiments 2 and 4).
