Effects of two nitrogen rates (120 kg N/ha and 180 kg N/ha) on plant heighth and productive elements of wheat spike (spike length , spikelet number per spile, number and grain weight per spike), as well as on grain yield were studied during the 1991-1993 period. The investigations were carried out on alluvium type soil in Pec (Yugoslavia). According to obtained results the optimum nitrogen rates for the majority of varieties were 150-160 kg N/ha. The variety Srbijanka was the exception, as the optimum nitrogen rate for this variety amounted to 180 kg N/ha.
