Emergence of soybean seed from different production years was examined in field conditions. The experiment was conducted at Rimski Sancevi (near Novi Sad, Yugoslavia), on calcareous chernozem, in the period 1994-1995. Three varieties were tested: Kolubara, NS-9 and Corsoy. Seed lots from 1991, 1992 and 1993 were tested in 1994, while the 1995 test included also a 1994 lot. In the 1994 experiment, the average emergence of the 1991 lots of the three varieties was 84. This value was significantly lower than the average values of emergence of the 1992 and 1993 lots which were 88 and 89, respectively. On the average for all production years, the variety Corsoy had a significantly higher emergence (92) than the varieties Kolubara and NS-9 (85 and 84, respectively). In the 1995 experiment, the values of emergence were similar among the tested varieties, but there were highly significant differences among the 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994 lots - 15, 38, 27 and 96, respectively.
