This paper presents the growing stock of state forests on the mountain of Stara Planina, ecological conditions of the Stara Planina mountain, plant communities of the Stara Planina mountain, forest types in the belt of mixed forests of beech, fir and spruce and bioecological characteristics of beech, fir and spruce on the Stara Planina mountain. Based on the research in mixed forests of beech, fir, spruce on the Stara Planina mountain, the study of bioecological characteristics of these species and site conditions of the central part of the Stara Planina mountain, as well as based on the evidence that fir and spruce did exist in the past, we deal with the representatives of the particular forest types which can serve as management models in mixed forests of the above species.
