[Selenium content in premixes for complete fodder mixtures]

We analysed sixteen samples of premixes for complete fodder mixtures from five producers (two universal premixes, three for pigs, five for poultry and six for bull calves) on selenium content. Samples of premixes were prepared by digestion with mixture of nitric-perchloric acid. After digestion selenium was reducted heating with 20 mL chlorid acid (1:1). Selenium was determined using hydride technique AAS (Perkin Elmer 3 300, hydride system MHS-10). Our results shown that content of selenium was significantly lower from declared amounts.
